Every horse lover wants to do something for their equine friend at Christmas. However horses are not easy to buy for as they can not tell us what they want. It can also be very expensive to buy new equine products at Christmas when you have family and friends to buy for too! So why not try and make a tasty treat to tickle your equine friend’s taste buds? Here are some recipes to try out at home, ready to give at Christmas.
Christmas carrot Crackers
2 carrots, shredded 1 apple, chopped in small pieces 1/3 cup molasses ½ to ¾ cup bran (one half to three quarters) salty crackers
Combine carrots, apple, molasses and bran. Mix thoroughly. Scoop a small ball on crackers. Store leftovers in refrigerator.
Amazing apple cookies
1 cup margarine 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup bran 1 cup diced carrots 1 cup diced apples 1 teaspoon baking soda. 2 cups quick cooking rolled oats 2 eggs
Cream margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, bran and baking soda. Blend into creamed mixture. Stir in oats, carrots, and apples. Drop by spoonfuls onto un-greased baking sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove and cool.
Quick and easy snowmen
2 cups flour 5 cups oatmeal 1/2 cup corn oil 1 clove garlic 1 cup diced carrots
Combine ingredients in bowl. Mold into snowmen shapes, then place in microwavable pan or sheet and microwave on high for 6 minutes per batch. Let them cool before using icing pens to draw the eyes and detail on.
